I'm setting up a home office network for my brother-in-law's boss, and he has a large HP office printer that he wants to connect to the network..
The ideal solution (in terms of not purchasing more hardware) would be to hook the ethernet connection of the printer directly to the RJ-45 port on the laptop (since the main network is wireless) using a crossover cable. The printer gives 3 connection options: BootP, DHCP, and manual. After deciding I'm not sure how to set it up manually, I figured the best thing to do would be to use DHCP.
What I need to know is if I can set up an individual network connection to be a DHCP server in Windows XP Home? And will that work right for this situation?
